"You know how you're all like, alone, n yr in love w Kate Bush and dying to recreate the iconic Wuthering Heights music video on High St in Somersworth?"
That was the post on Facebook that drew Kate Bush fans to visit Somersworth on Saturday July 14 from as far as Vermont and Boston to recreate the dance from Kate's famous video "Wuthering Heights", which now has an odd cult following of younger fans. A good sized crowd of all ages gathered near the alley where the performance took place, and cars slowed down to peak at the flashy red dresses dotting the sidewalk.
Kate Bush debuted the single in 1978 and it was a number one hit on the UK charts for four weeks.
The dance crew in Somersworth New Hampshire wasn't the only Kate Bush flash mob on Saturday, there were also a crew of dancers in Portland Maine on the Eastern Prom.
Teatotaller, a local tea shop on High Street, sponsored the event and owner Emmett was the one of the lead dancers, and even offered us a red dress and a quick lesson (maybe next year :)
They also made a Kate Bush day of it with Kate themed treats like Red Velvet Waffles and Chocolate Ganache Macaron's...but the REAL treat was the burst of awkward and amazing culture at 11am in downtown Somersworth. More, please.
To insure you don't miss next year, be sure and follow Teatotaller on Facebook ...you may want to stop by MUCH sooner though, because the food and drinks there are quite wonderful
